travel north america united states minnesota boundary waters
In 1981, my volleyball friends and I took a road trip to Minnesota to canoe pack the Boundary Waters along the Canadian border.
We drove straight through taking turns at the wheel... I managed to pick up a speeding ticket in Minnesota from an airplane observer.
We entered the Boundary waters at Sawbill Lake at a time of the year we thought we could avoid the mosquitoes.
For the most part, we avoided the mosquitoes... in exchange, we got the rain.
Another benefit of the time of year was that we didn't see another living soul during the whole pack trip.
